About Our Silk-Shaded Lamps
Our silk-shaded lamps are designed by San Francisco-based artist Susan Kinzig and reflect many of the techniques that she has perfected from her background as an accomplished jewelry designer. The lamps she creates feature bases that incorporate highly-designed proprietary elements with vibrant, hand-blown glass and solid brass and copper accents. The glass in the bases is blown to her color and shape specifications by two well-regarded glass studios. The richly colored shades are sewn from embroidered silks and other elegant fabrics that are topped with their own distinctive finials that enhance these uniquely crafted pieces. Each lamp is individually finished in a style that incorporates oxidized metals and the warm, rich colors and surface textures that can only be obtained by mixing controlled processes with accidental circumstances. The result is a piece which is truly distinctive, as no two of her lamps are exactly alike.
