About Our Ceramic Lamps

Our ceramic lamps are crafted by Schall Studio & Design, the pottery studio of contemporary artist J-D Schall. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, the studio is dedicated to exploring the very best in modern design. Influenced by various sources including Asian ceramics as well as the American Arts & Crafts movement and classic mid-century design, each of the fine lamps they create are designed, wheel-thrown from stoneware, and custom-glazed by the artist himself. Many of the lamps require multiple thrown sections that are carefully assembled by hand, and all are high-fired to ensure durability and lasting beauty. The lamps are then completed with brass hardware and handmade linen or parchment shades, depending on the piece at hand. The resulting product is a piece that is made with the utmost attention to fine craftsmanship and timeless design to bring decades of enjoyment.
